Bamboo is chosen for its natural resistance to warping when exposed to the moisture released during pressing. The even-pressure design means that tightening the wing nuts distributes force uniformly across the entire surface, reducing the likelihood of wrinkled or misshapen specimens. This press is often used for preserving wedding bouquets, garden dahlias, roses, and ferns. The six-layer configuration allows the user to process up to six separate botanical arrangements simultaneously. Between each cardboard layer, two sheets of blotting paper are placed to wick away moisture. The user should replace the blotting paper every 48–72 hours during the initial drying phase for high-moisture flowers. The kit does not contain any flowers or plant material; the user supplies their own. The product is not designed for microwave use; only ambient-temperature pressing is recommended. The wing nuts are made of galvanised steel, resistant to corrosion under typical indoor drying conditions. Assembly requires no tools beyond the included components. The bamboo is finished with a clear food-grade mineral oil to provide some moisture resistance; this oil does not transfer to the flowers as it is on the external surfaces only.
